Who's that guy ?!

Hi, great to meet you !

My name is Piotr.

How to pronounce it, you ask.

For short, you can call me Pio.

I have carried a camera since I was 17.

The first picture of me and a camera, however, was taken when I was 4 years old. I didn't know how to use the camera back then, obviously; instead, I "disassembled" it...

Years passed, and I started taking pictures because I was curious about people's characters, but I used to be shy, and hiding behind the viewfinder helped.

Now, more than 25 years later, I can say that photography opened doors to places, hearts, and a life full of surprise.

I followed graffiti artists in Eastern Europe vandalizing Soviet-era concrete constructions (or coloring the gray reality).

I hung 50 meters above the ground, in sunny Spain, to capture rock climbers fighting with their ghosts.

And way too many meters under the ground fighting with my own demons..._MG_3122-2

I was working on portraits of common people, artists, and musicians in their private spaces—from Damien Hirst's studio to Real World Music studio, where Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, Björk, Sade, and Ultravox (do you remember them?) recorded their songs. And later, I was invited to even more private mansions of super-wealthy art collectors. Photographing their collections, I understood that the wealth inequality is beyond the comprehension of the 99%.

Although work in those places taught much about trust, privacy, and the craft of photography, most importantly, it helped me understand myself.

Now, finishing this ego trip, I'll leave you with this:

Because photography is only an excuse, to notice more to experience deeper, and the more you notice, the more doors open, the final image is only the side effect of the curiosity that is in you.

Curious? Come on a walk with me in Coimbra, Portugal.

PS.
So you read about me, the one behind the lens. That's a long talk, right ? It could be longer...but see my actual portoflio..
I'll let you judge these words against my photography.
Now go and enjoy :)
